NBN Fibre to the Curb Technology – fttc

NBN are offering the new Fibre to the Curb technology as an improvement over the previous Fibre to the Node.  Due to the distance of copper going back to the node fibre to the curb should provide a more stable internet connection and also be able to offer much faster speeds than most Fibre to node connections. NBN co advise speeds up to the gigabit are possible.

Since the copper lead in from the pit in most cases is fairly short, the data loss from the pit to the house should be minimal. You may also choose to have your copper cable re run by a third party contractor prior to connecting to the new fibre to the curb technology to ensure your copper phone cable is not corroded or damaged particularly in areas that are close to salt water.  For a consumer this means that you will typically get faster speeds, no matter where you live in your street. The nbn fibre to the curb – fttc is very exciting and will offer an estimated 1,000,000 homes with this upgrade.
